My credit was ruined after my divorce. How can it be repaired without using a credit repair company?

    There is nothing a credit repair company can do for you that you cannot do for yourself. You must do tons of research, learn your state laws, and work at this. You can get accurate negatives removed sometimes as well *wink*.
    You can start by googling “DV letter” and work from there. You’ll learn a lot to get you started on the road to credit repair.

    The best way is to continue responsibly using your current revolving credit lines (credit cards) as you normally would. Make sure your payments are on-time and over the minimum amount due (if you can afford it).
    There’s no magic formula, and credit repair companies generally don’t do anything that you couldn’t do by yourself…don’t waste your hard-earned money on that.
    Time is an vital cure for your credit history. The longer you show a consistent pattern of payment the less weight any delinquent or derogatory accounts will have on your history (though it will show anythign within the past 7 years).
