Credit Repair is based on reviewing the items that are reporting on your credit report, and seeing if they comply with various state and federal laws, including but not limited to the FCRA, FACTA, FDCPA, HIPAA, SSCRA. A professional credit consultant will guide you through the intense process of battling the credit reporting agency’s to prove their compliance with the law. I suggest you contact a law firm to work on any items of concern. All items that are reporting on your credit file must be reporting 100% accurate information that is reporting within the legally allowable time frames, that is also VERIFIABLE. Often items that are appearing are not verifiable, or 100% accurate, therefore by law they must be corrected or removed. Items that are in fact yours but, are reporting incorrect info can have a significant negative impact on your score therefore you should battle to have the information corrected or removed.
Keep in mind, whether you choose a law firm or credit specialist all of the work they will do will be work that you can do on your own. But their experience and expertise is likely to get things done alot quicker than you would on your own. Compare it to doing your own mechanical work on your car- you can do that BUT a mechanic will get the job done more efficiently (most of the time)
Most importantly if you choose to hire an expert, don’t pay any fees in advance. Credit repair IS legal, and is governed by the FTC through the Credit Repair Organizations Act, commonly known as CROA. Contained within CROA is a section which states, that no credit repair organization may charge for a service before the service has been completed.
In reference to software. Software would be a tool for you to manage the process, and is likely a helpful tool BUT no software will know what is incorrect, or be able to interpret the law. Credit Repair Software will be useful to track and manage your progress, and help in expediting the letter creation process.
I hope this was helpful to you!

There’s no way to repair your credit. You can dispute incorrect items but anything that’s accurate stays on your credit report for 7 years. The companies that say they can fix your credit are lying and they want your money. Software doesn’t help.
Go to annualcreditreport.com. That’s the website where you can get one free credit report per year from each of the huge three credit reporting agencies. Get the reports. Read them carefully. If the data is accurate, there’s nothing you can do about it. If anything is really incorrect, the credit report should contain instructions as to how you should dispute the item.
Going forward, get a secured card with a decent balance – this may mean saving up for a while so you can make a large security deposit. Use the card every month for a small bit. Pay it off on time every month. Do this for a few years and you may become eligible for a sub-prime unsecured card. When you get one of those, use it the same way. Never use it to buy something that you don’t already have the cash for. Never use more than 25% of your credit limit. It will take years but you’ll be building credit as your terrible credit info starts marching off your report.

There is no quick way to fix your credit.
Save the money you would be paying a so called expert or to a company hawking software that says it can fix things and use it to pay down your debt.
Get credit counseling if your credit is in that much distress. Also, paying some of the older accounts can really hurt rather than help you.

You will be throwing your money away. No software package or “expert” can repair terrible credit. Only you can – and it’s a slow, gradual process. Don’t fall for sucker pitches.
