I’ve been building my credit for a year, after my Bankruptcy and have gone from a 500 to a 561 so far. What score would I need to get approved for a deparment store card, like Target, IKEA, Best Buy, etc.?

Whatever the cut off score is I’m sure that it’s a secret with each retailer so it’s impossible to say for sure….You’re out of the likely denial range by getting into the 561 range. I don’t reckon you need an unsecured Best Buy card one year out of filing for BK…

They approve just about every one.

I know it doesn’t have to be too high. You don’t want to open too many of these types accounts, not at least at the same time. I would encourage you to pay for items with your own cash, instead of on credit (debt). The fact that you had a previous bankruptcy tells me you know the pitfalls of credit (debt).
